NSC Updates

Two leaders in regional specialty care are partnering to bring expanded resources in the fields of cardiopulmonary care to the greater St. Paul and northwestern Wisconsin areas. One of this year’s largest St. Paul commercial developments, the five-story, state-of-the-art medical complex is located on the United Hospital campus.

St. Paul Heart Clinic (SPHC) and Pulmonary Critical Care Associates(PCCA) - the two anchor tenants - project a move-in date of late summer. The move also signals a name change for PCCA to St. Paul Lung Clinic, a decision being made to better reflect the specialized nature of the group’s services.

“The expanded facility provides the opportunity to add technology and offer new service modalities,” said Victor Tschida, M.D., president and founder of St. Paul Heart Clinic. “Combining the power of innovation with the comfort of human touch remains our goal. Development of the Nasseff Specialty Center dramatically increases our capability to deliver on this promise.”

In addition to greater capacity for existing services, the two lead specialty groups are partnering with other onsite groups to launch specialized care in pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, pulmonary rehabilitation, cardiovascular prevention and women’s heart disease, among other areas.

When completed, the 125,000-square-foot building will provide service to those living in the greater St. Paul metro area, including Rush City, Hastings, Stillwater and northwestern Wisconsin. Patients will benefit from integrated, enhanced care delivered through streamlined appointment scheduling and a multi-disciplinary approach to specialized care. Flat-lot parking will be available immediately adjacent to the NSC, as well as a skyway to United Hospital and the Heart Hospital parking ramp.

Along with St. Paul Heart Clinic and Pulmonary Critical Care Associates, the NSC will also encompass the following tenants, among others: Minnesota Epilepsy Group, United Neurosurgery Associates and University of Minnesota Physicians — Pediatric Specialty Clinic, St. Paul. NSC will house approximately 125 providers and 300 support staff, providing unprecedented regional access to state-of-the-art technology and care.

Established in 1974, the St. Paul Heart Clinic is the Twin Cities largest, most advanced independent cardiology clinic, providing specialized care in virtually all aspects of heart care. The 33 cardiologists not only specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, but pioneered the concept of sub specialization through refined skills in electrophysiology, interventional procedures, noninvasive diagnostics and research.

Pulmonary Critical Care Associates is Minnesota’s oldest and most comprehensive independent pulmonary, critical care and sleep disorders clinic. Thirteen physicians and six ancillary health care providers dedicate themselves to providing care for disorders of the lungs and respiratory system. The clinic also provides intensivist services to the Intensive Care Units at United and St. Joseph’s Hospitals in St. Paul; St. John’s in Maplewood; and Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury.
